Shut Em' Down!!!

The topic of the day seems to be governmental shut down. All across the country school's budgets are being cut and teachers are getting laid off left and right. I find it very interesting in these hard economic times that many Republican's wanna battle Planned Parenthood. It's kinda funny in a sad way. They are looking to punish Planned Parenthood for One of the many services they offer.

It's a damn shame when you start attaching "extras" to bills for the sake of getting it done for your constituency. It is really frustrating to watch a fucking Viagra or Cialis commercial with grins and smiles and yet and still preventing pregnancy is a bad thing? Are you kidding? Now the way abortion is generally portrayed is that it's always some young girl who has found herself in the family way. During hard economic times its been shown to be middle class women who already have kids and can't afford another. I truly believe that babies are great but it can also not be so great. And for all the Bible thumpers out there I say to you this: If you truly and completely believe in God then you would know if you are meant to be here then you will be.

I am all for counseling if a young woman is open to listening to what you have to say but standing in front of a clinic with fetal pictures to make you feel worse than you already do about making a tough decision. This is a discussion for another day but the point is there is a separation between church and state so while you may morally disagree you should not be able to legislate it. Anyway that is not really what this is about. This is about the ramifications of a governmental shut down. To some degree I think it needs to happen. We need to re-examen what the hell is going on. I think there is enough blame to go around from the Left and the Right. I feel like so many Americans are just fed up and its not so much about Republicans or Democrats.

I feel like during the Bush years America lost its mind. For 9/11 carte blanch had been given and that power was abused an we are now paying the price. Many people don't realize that its like a boxing match and our country took many hits and broke a few ribs and right now we are trying to bandage ourselves. Meanwhile, the bumps and bruises are starting to show.

I honestly believe that no matter whoever became the next President was gonna have a huge problem on their hands. I think we as Americans are coming upon a crossroads of sorts and neither party will benefit. Most people want the party solved not the infighting on ideology. Ten years from now we will have wished that we put more into education.

There are more jails than schools there has to be a change and everyone has to realize it and come to some sort of understanding of a compromise. I liken our countries problem to a sick baby. The baby needs medical care and there is an argument about who is gonna pay for the baby's medical care. Meanwhile the child steadily declines, the baby dies during the bickering and everyone is to blame, everyone has blood on their hands. I don't know what it will take for people to understand that we have more in common than we realize.

Unfortunately, the powers that be encourage us to pick a side when in reality life isn't black and white it has many shades of gray. We all have to make hard decisions everyday. It is no secret than in hard economic times that race relations go south and the crime rates go up. Why? because people are angry and look for someone to directly blame for their plight and its easy to say that its your fault that I can't get work or its your fault I can't get a home loan. Nope people its our fault, it is in fact OUR collective faults. But were past the point of blame we need to figure out what to do next. Many of our problems didn't start with the last president and they wont end with the next.

We have to collectively grow up and make change as a people not as a Democrat, Republican or even and Independent. The ways of old no longer work and there are too many old dogs in Washington to see the writing on the wall but maybe just maybe a shut down will give them some time to think about it. The next election cycle is a comin' and NOBODY and I do mean NOBODY comes out looking like a bed of roses!

Livin' Life Off The Wall

Welcome to my Blog!
I am so very happy that you stopped by. In this first entry I want to explain the title of my blog and what I want it to be about. The title comes from the song "Off The Wall", by Michael Jackson. It's one of my favorite songs and describes me and my life. I encourage you to check it out if you haven't heard it. Now to get into what this blog is really about. My random off the wall thoughts on the world in which we live in today.

There are so many things that I am passionate about and look forward to discussing them with many of you. No topic is off the table...especially those that are off the wall! From sports, politics, video games, sex, health, relationships, gardening, knitting, cartoons, etc. If it hasn't been stated enough I am a bit "Off The Wall". One of my main goals for this blog is to share my thoughts with you as well as get some feedback. I am always up for a good debate.

I would like to think of this bit of cyberspace as a "Bullshit Free Zone" we are gonna keep it 100% real. I have a great sense of humor and look forward to sharing that with you as well. I am new to the Blogosphere so there may be some stumbling blocks as we make our way to a stable routine. At the moment we will be flying by the seat of our pants until we come up with some dare I say it....structure!!

Let's face it there is plenty of stupidity out there in the world. Why not analyze it? There is also great wisdom to be found as well. I look forward to hearing from you and gaining more.
